Leading the Conversation: My Role as Head of Public Relations
Change doesn’t happen overnight, but it begins with a voice that refuses to stay silent. At Girl Up Parivartan, I had the privilege of being that voice—amplifying stories, building connections, and shaping narratives that advocate for gender equality.
As the Head of Public Relations, my role extended beyond outreach and communication; it was about creating a movement, fostering awareness, and ensuring that our mission resonated with as many people as possible.
A Platform for Parivartan (Transformation)
At Girl Up Parivartan, we weren’t just an organization; we were a collective of changemakers—committed, driven, and passionate individuals striving to dismantle gender biases and create a world of equal opportunities.
We worked towards erasing stereotypes, breaking glass ceilings, and empowering voices that have long been unheard. Our focus was not just on discussions but on actionable change—advocacy, community-building, and impactful initiatives.
Crafting Impactful Narratives
Being at the forefront of public relations, I played a key role in:
- Curating & Managing Outreach Campaigns: Ensuring our message reached the right audience through social media, press, and digital storytelling.
- Engaging Stakeholders & Partners: Collaborating with NGOs, influencers, and activists to expand our reach and strengthen our cause.
- Organizing Awareness Initiatives: Driving social media campaigns, panel discussions, and workshops that highlighted key issues related to gender equality.
- Building a Strong Digital Presence: Transforming Girl Up Parivartan into a recognizable and respected name in the fight for women’s rights and gender justice.
Creating Conversations That Matter
One of the most fulfilling aspects of my role was shaping discussions around issues that needed urgent attention—from education for girls and workplace inclusivity to gender-based violence and menstrual health awareness.
I witnessed firsthand how a well-crafted campaign or a thought-provoking discussion could ignite change. Every post, every article, and every event was a step towards creating a world where equality isn’t just an ideal but a reality.
Lessons in Leadership & Advocacy
Leading the public relations front at Girl Up Parivartan taught me:
- The power of storytelling—because change starts when people listen, understand, and act.
- The importance of community—because movements thrive when voices unite for a common cause.
- The impact of persistence—because every small effort contributes to a bigger revolution.
Carrying the Flame Forward
Parivartan means transformation—and Girl Up Parivartan was exactly that for me. It transformed not just my skills but my perspective on gender justice, advocacy, and leadership.
As I move forward, I take with me the belief that public relations is not just about communication; it is about starting conversations that drive change. Because in the end, progress is not about waiting for change—it’s about being the force that makes it happen. ❣︎
